Cristina Incháustegui and Alfonso Poy

Cristina and Alfonso live in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. In 2008 Cristina attended an AMO® Teacher Training called Principles of Christian of Education for Discipling Nations that altered the direction of her teaching career. She returned to the third-grade class at her church’s school, Colegio Evangélico La Trinidad, where she was the Principal and implemented the children’s curriculum with great success for three years. After a two-year mentoring process, Cristina became an AMO® missionary trainer with Chrysalis International traveling throughout the Spanish- speaking world to teach and disciple teachers, parents, and pastors in most of the Spanish speaking countries of South and Central America, Spain, and her own nation. In 2014, she became Regional Director of the AMO® Program in Latin America and the Caribbean.

For the past years, she has been networking with many NGOs, churches, ministries, and schools to equip thousands of leaders and educators with a biblical, Christian worldview of education that teaches both adults and children how to think and reason with the revelation of God’s Word. In 2022, the ministry transitioned from AMO® Program to Programa AMO® Español (PAE) where she is the Director of Education and Training. Cristina was born in a Dominican family in the United States during her father’s medical residency in Pediatrics at the Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. However, she has lived most of her life in the Dominican Republic. Being a fourth-generation Christian educator, lesson plans, textbooks, report cards, and parent meetings have been an integral part of her environment from a young age. After high school graduation, Cristina majored in school psychology with a specialty in functional neurological organization at the Centro de Desarrollo Humano in San Juan, Puerto Rico and received her degree in 1985. She has also earned a Diplomado in Christian Education from San Pablo Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Mexico.

Cristina accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in 1984. Since that time, she has served Christ as an educator both in church as a Sunday school teacher for children, adolescents, and women as well as the General Director of the academic school founded by Iglesia Evangélica La Trinidad in Santo Domingo. There she taught Bible to the senior class and trained the faculty in Christian principles of education. Alfonso was born in Santo Domingo and became a Christian in May 1985. He studied accounting at Universidad APEC, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree. He has served as deacon, leader and general administrator at AG Iglesia Evangélica La Trinidad for nineteen years and has been employed as an accountant most of his life.

Alfonso and Cristina were married in December 1985. They have two adult children, Rafael Alfonso and Lourdes Cristina, who are both serving the Lord in their professional fields. Both Cristina and Alfonso were convinced of God’s call to missions and spent two years sharing the Gospel and evangelizing the small community of Sabaneta, Jarabacoa in the Dominican mountains. Today Alfonso and Cristina worship at Iglesia Bautista Internacional (IBI) in Santo Domingo. After attending an AMO® Teacher Training n 2014, Alfonso joined Cristina with a vision for reaching the schools and churches in DR. Together, they founded and administrate their educational institute called Fundación Educación Cristiana, through which they serve Christ through Christian education in alliance with other NGOs, schools and churches in the Dominican Republic.
